Dan & Scott

The Dan and Scott Show. Internet radio before internet radio had a name: downloadable audio on AOL in 1995, and a live streaming debut on April 1, 1996, on AudioNet. Hosts Dan Schulz and Scott Wirkus. The circle around the show was the Freak Army, and Chad Kovac was in that room as General Chad. This door keeps the archive.

The archive

The master archive holds 460 files, 14.7 gigabytes, kept by the archivists in their own order: DnS 1995 (10), DnS 1996 (19), DnS 1998 (40), DnS 1999 (27), DnS 2000 (108), DnS 2001 (122), Best of DnS (42), DnS News Letters (40), Freakout Shows (15), Shrink Wrap Blues (28), Don West Clips (6), and singles.

Status, October 26, 2026: the files are copying to the desk's server. 152 files, 5.2 gigabytes, have landed and verified so far. The copying continues.

What happens to it here

Every file gets transcribed. The catalog is organized by keyword, so a visitor can find a show, a bit, or a call by what was said in it. The jokes and bits are then cut into their own MP3s, each one searchable and playable on its own, right here on the door.

Nobody cuts on a guess. The transcripts are understood first. A comedy analyst reads them and recommends the breaks, with the evidence for each boundary written down. Uncertain boundaries are marked uncertain and held for review. Nothing is cut until the record supports the cut.

First entries in the catalog notebook

The first worked sample is a Best of edition: the Satan call. The four bits below were cut on October 26, 2026, at the points the analyst recommended, and they wait for the owner’s ear: if a break is wrong, the cut moves. The audio is hosted on the desk’s own server.

Lance Introduces the Satan Call

Cold open · 0:00 to 1:26 · Confidence: high

The best-of host frames the famous bit: Dan works a Satan voice through his little machine while he and Manda call a religious TV station, and the host bickers with Manda about even playing it.

Satan Calls the TBN Prayer Line

Call · 1:26 to 16:48 · Confidence: high

One complete prank call, dial to hang-up. Dan and Manda call the Trinity Broadcasting Network prayer line on the pretense of a donation. Satan keeps interrupting through the voice machine. The operator's own testimony lands in the middle of it, and the million-dollar check gets talked down to ten bucks before the hang-up.

Satan in the Studio After the Call

Character bit · 16:48 to 17:39 · Confidence: high

Back in the studio, the room reckons with what it just aired, while Satan, still in voice, takes questions.

What this door becomes

When the catalog lands, this door gets its search: type a keyword, find the file, read its summary, and play it on the page. Until then, this page is the notebook, and it grows as the work does.
